In the mid-1980s, Sam Edelmann of the Pittsburgh Seltzer Works put out a small brochure of seltzer drink recipes for his customers. It included classic seltzer recipes drawn from 19th century soda fountain manuals, including this one of my favorites!
CLASSIC LIME RICKEY
- Put ten ounces of seltzer in a large glass.
- Add two ounces of cherry syrup.
- Squeeze half of a lime into the glass. Then be sure to add the used lime to the mixture. This is the drink’s trademark.
- Stir briefly and add ice.
