In New Book Review, Seltzer History Bubbles with Details

This week, Jesse Bernstein of the Jewish Exponent (tagline: What it Means to be Jewish in Philadelphia) reviewed Seltzertopia this week, in “Seltzer History Bubbles with Details“. You can read the full review here or enjoy my loving swipes at it below.

I am very appreciative of any publication that takes the time to review my book, whatever they might say. And I was happy to see Jesse using the opportunity to have writing the review, as it’s full of back-handed compliments. For example, “Suffice it to say, Joseph has not mailed in Seltzertopia.” Why, thank you very much.

And then there’s: “Though the topic is, on its face, unbearably dull, and Joseph cannot help but insert puns about ‘flatness,’ ‘bubbling’ and more, there are sections of the book that redeem it from those sins.” [Please note the same effervescent pun used in the piece’s title, perhaps in a plea for equal redemption].

I can’t decide though which is my favorite. Is it this one: “Joseph’s enthusiasm for the project shines through, enlivening otherwise dreary material.” Or is it: “If you’ve bought even just one can of La Croix, Seltzertopia might be worth your time.”

Just might.
